In 2019, I embarked on my post-graduate journey, filled with boundless dreams and aspirations, eager to make a mark in the professional world. Little did I know that life had an unexpected chapter waiting for me. In 2020, amidst the excitement of starting my career, I also embraced the profound joy of motherhood.
However, the joy was eclipsed by a traumatic experience—an incident of medical malpractice during childbirth that resulted in a week-long stroke and the development of superior vein thrombosis. As a Black woman, navigating through this healthcare injustice was an additional layer of adversity. This near-death encounter, coupled with a three-month hospitalization and enforced separation from my newborn, became a crucible that tested my strength and resilience. Alone during countless painful nights without family or assistance, I found myself contemplating not just survival but the profound impact this experience would have on my future.
The ordeal fueled a fierce determination not only to reclaim my life but also to amplify my purpose. In the wake of this harrowing journey, I emerged stronger, driven by an unwavering desire to inspire others. I became a beacon of resilience, demonstrating that dreams and success can be both possible and transformative even in life's darkest moments.
Amid the echoes of endless, painful nights, a new dream crystallized. Accepted into the MBA program at Georgetown University, I seized the opportunity to equip myself with the knowledge and strategies to realize my aspirations. The academic journey, culminating in my graduation in May 2023, became a testament to the indomitable spirit that drives me.
